Les dès sont jetés, et ils disent "737MAX"

Message par UY707 »

Icelandair (Keflavik) and Boeing (Chicago) have announced a commitment today for 12 737 MAXs, valued at more than $1.2 billion at list prices. The commitment by the Icelandic carrier includes 737 MAX 8s and 9s. Boeing looks forward to working with Icelandair to finalize the details, at which time the order will be posted as a firm order to the Boeing Orders & Deliveries website.

Icelandair increases 737 Max order

Source: Flightglobal

Icelandair has increased its commitment to the Boeing 737 Max by firming an order for 16 aircraft, up from its initial indication that it would take a dozen.

The airline has effectively converted four of the 12 purchase rights it had negotiated as part of a tentative agreement signed last December, adding three more 737-9s and another 737-8.

Under the revised agreement Icelandair will take nine 737-8s and seven 737-9s. The company says it still has eight purchase rights along with the firm orders,

"The agreements have now been finalised," the carrier states, adding that the aircraft will be delivered in 2018-21. All members of the 737 Max family will be powered by CFM International Leap-1B engines.

Icelandair Group says the purchase price is confidential but puts the list price for the 16 firm jets at $1.6 billion. It will configure its 737-8s with 153 seats and its -9s with 172

Icelandair says it has signed an agreement with an undisclosed firm for the purchase of two additional B767-300(ER)s. The aircraft, which will shortly undergo refurbishment, are expected to enter service early next year.

The Icelandic carrier already dry-leases two B767-300(ER)s - P2-PXV (msn 30341) and P2-PXW (msn 25365) - to Air Niugini. It also already operates one aircraft just recently delivered, TF-ISN (msn 30586), with a second one, TF-ISO (msn 29388), due soon

Icelandair Group is considering switching to an all-Airbus fleet, or the introduction of A321neos to succeed the Boeing 757, as part of a long-term strategic review.

The main airline company, Icelandair, is intending to take its all-Boeing fleet from 33 to 50 aircraft by 2025, with 26 of them a mix of Boeing 737 Max 8s and 9s.

These would partly replace the 757 fleet which would fall from 23 to 19 – including a pair of 757-300s – while five 767-300s would make up the balance.

Under its current fleet strategy the 757 fleet will be phased out in favour of the 737 Max.

Icelandair said in a press release it will keep more B757-200s in operation in 2020 than originally planned due to the ongoing grounding of the B737 MAX. It will also wet-lease at least two B737-800s.

"Icelandair has updated its flight schedule as it does not expect the Boeing 737 MAX back into service until May 2020. This decision has minimum impact on passengers and on Icelandair’s flight schedule for this period," the Icelandic flag carrier said.

Icelandair added that it has already signed a wet-lease agreement covering two B737-800s "that will be part of the fleet from next spring and is working on leasing in the third aircraft."

The airline did not respond to ch-aviation's query about the identity of the operator of the wet-leased B737s.

The airline said that while it had already reached a preliminary agreement with Boeing regarding the compensation for the absence of the B737 MAX, it was continuing talks with the manufacturer regarding further damages.

According to the ch-aviation fleets advanced module, Icelandair has five B737-8s and one B737-9s on the ground. It was expecting deliveries of a further one -8 and two -9s when the family was grounded in mid-March 2019.

Besides the B737 MAX, Icelandair operates twenty-three B757-200s, two B757-300s, and four B767-300(ER)s, as well as two B757-200(PF)s. The B757s were due for a gradual phase-out and replacement by the MAX. The -200s are 23.9 years old on average and the -300s - 18.9 years.
