Aurigny Air Services goes jet with the E195

Guernsey-based regional carrier Aurigny Air Services has signed a firm contract with Embraer Commercial Aviation for one E195 jet. The transaction was announced today at a press briefing in Salzburg at the annual general meeting of the European Regions Airline Association (ERA - http://www.eraa.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). The firm order will be included in Embraer's 2013 third quarter backlog. Delivery is scheduled in the first semester of 2014.

The E195 is the first jet aircraft to be added to the Aurigny Air Services fleet. The airline currently flies turboprops on six daily frequencies on its principal route between the London Gatwick Airport and Guernsey. With 122 slim seats in single-class layout, the E195 will enable the carrier to increase the number of daily flights to eight and offer much-needed additional capacity.

"The E195 has proven to be an ideal aircraft for high-volume, high-frequency markets," said Paulo Cesar Silva, President & CEO, Embraer Commercial Aviation. "I'm confident Aurigny will appreciate the E195's low operating costs and high reliability when it introduces the jet on its flagship route."

"The acquisition of the E195 is a major step forward for our company," said Mark Darby, CEO of Aurigny Air Services. "The London Gatwick route is very important for us. We've been tasked by the State of Guernsey to increase capacity and upgrade the quality of our overall service so we decided to move up to a jet. The E195 was the natural choice."

Since they entered revenue service in 2004, the E-Jets family has received more than 1,300 orders. The company recently delivered the 1,000th production aircraft to Republic Airways of the USA. Currently, E-Jets are flying with 64 airlines from 45 countries. In Europe, 24 airlines have added E-Jets to their fleets. The versatile 70- to 130-seat, four-aircraft family is flying with low cost airlines, regional and mainline carriers. Collectively, the E-Jets fleet has accumulated more than 10 million flight hours.

Aurigny happy with the Do228; to order either "two or three"

Aurigny Air Services is planning to order "two or three" Do228s following the successful completion of a two-week trial, CEO Mark Darby has told FlightGlobal. The Channel Islands carrier had wet-leased an Aero VIP Do228-200, CS-TGG (msn 8160), for the duration of the trials. The turboprops will be used to replace the airline's fleet of seven Trislanders.

Aurigny a commandé chez RUAG un second Dornier 228, qui lui sera livré à l'été 2017.
Son premier Dornier 228, G-OAUR, est entré en service en Janvier dernier et est utilisé sur les lignes d'Alderney vers Southampton et Dinard.
C'est un appareil STOL et il supporte bien les vents de travers, deux caractéristiques fort utiles à Alderney.

Aurigny s’apprête à vendre son unique jet Embraer E195, utilisé sur Guernesey-Gatwick, et à le remplacer par deux ATR72 loués.

L’ATR72-600 réduira la capacité disponible sur cette ligne de 122 à 72 sièges par vol.

La compagnie aérienne affirme que le changement se traduira par moins de perturbations et un service plus rationalisé, en particulier en cas de perturbation de l’équipage, car elle disposera de plus de pilotes et d’équipages de cabine capables de remplacer à court terme.

La flexibilité supplémentaire du remplacement d’un avion par deux donne à Aurigny la possibilité d’opérer plus de vols quotidiens vers Londres ainsi que des services réguliers vers des destinations telles que Paris, Manchester et Dublin.

Le PDG d’Aurigny, Nico Bezuidenhout, a déclaré : « Ce projet marque le début d’une poussée significative vers l’exploitation d’une compagnie aérienne plus rentable et plus efficace ".
