Mais JAL doit se résoudre à se plier au code sharing pour continuer à "desservir" l'AmSud

JAL starting 20OCT11 will begin codeshare service LANChile, covering service between Japan and Chila/Peru via Los Angeles and New York JFK.

Reservation for the codeshare flights will begin from 20OCT11 as well. Codeshare routes:

JAL today announced the increase of Tokyo Narita – San Diego service, ahead of service launch on 02DEC12.
From 02MAR13, service will increase from 4 weekly to daily, on board Boeing 787 aircraft.

As per 04DEC12 GDS timetable and inventory display, JAL is currently displaying operational aircraft changes on Tokyo Narita – Delhi route. Currently, this route displays Boeing 787-8 daily operation, replacing 777-200ER. Note additional changes remain highly possible.

Japan Airlines Co may buy about 20 A350 jets from Airbus (EAD.PA) for around 400 billion yen ($4.23 billion), the Nikkei daily reported on Sunday, a move that would reduce its reliance on Boeing (BA.N).
The Japanese carrier is considering using A350-1000 jets on flights to Europe and the United States to replace its Boeing 777 jets, and is set to make a final decision on the purchase by around June, the newspaper said, without citing sources.Japan Airlines and Airbus could not be immediately reached for comment.
The deal for the 350-seater planes would be the first with the European aircraft maker and includes a simulation facility for pilot training.Japan Airlines is set to retire its lone McDonnell Douglas MD-90 jet after a final flight on March 30, leaving it with a fleet of more than 100 aircraft, all manufactured by Boeing, the report said.
The carrier's seven Boeing 787 Dreamliner jets have been grounded since mid-January after problems with its lithium-ion battery.

... un sacré revers pour Boeing si c'est confirmé sans doute comme le dit l'article se sortir d'une dependance trop forte a Boeing

Un conseiller du gouvernement Japonais ne serait pas contre une fusion entre Japan Airlines et All Nippon Airways

Évidement pour le moment rien est signé, mais encore une fois B Smith avait vu juste en parlant de possibles fusions entre compagnies aériennes.

On assiste a ce qu'il s'est passé ces 15 dernières années aux USA avec des fusions entre majors (UA / Continental, Southwest / Air Tran, Delta / Northwest, US Airways / America West Airlines...)
