China’s CAS signs GTA with Airbus for 60 aircraft

China Aviation Supplies Holding Company (CAS) has signed a General Terms Agreement (GTA) with Airbus for the purchase of 60 Airbus aircraft, which includes 42 A320 Family aircraft and 18 A330 aircraft.

The GTA was signed today at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing by Li Hai, President and CEO of CAS and Fabrice Brégier, President and CEO of Airbus in the presence of the visiting French President François Hollande and the Chinese President Xi Jinping. It was part of a series of France-China agreements signed today.

“We are delighted to receive a new order from our long-standing customer CAS for both the Airbus best-selling single aisle A320 Family and wide-body A330 Family,” said Fabrice Brégier, President and CEO of Airbus. “The A320’s high reliability and low operational cost has made it very popular with Chinese airlines. As congestion puts pressure on airports in large cities in China, the A330 is an excellent solution as larger aircraft can transport more passengers with less flights. The comfort of the A330’s spacious cabin is also appealing to passengers. These eco-efficient Airbus aircraft will contribute to the growth and success of China’s aviation sector,” said Fabrice Brégier.

By the end of March 2013, there were some 750 A320 Family aircraft in operation with 14 Chinese airlines and more than 110 A330s in operation with six operators.

More than 9,400 A320 Family aircraft have been ordered and more than 5,500 delivered to more than 385 customers and operators worldwide reaffirming its position as the world’s best-selling single-aisle aircraft Family. With 99.7 per cent reliability and extended servicing periods, the A320 Family has the lowest operating costs of any single aisle aircraft. Uniquely, the A320 Family offers a containerized cargo system, which is compatible with the worldwide standard wide-body system.

The A330 Family, which spans 250 to 300 seats, and includes Freighter, VIP, and Military Transport/Tanker variants, has now attracted more than 1,200 orders, with around 900 aircraft flying with some 90 operators worldwide. Ever since the original version of the A330-300 entered service, the hallmark has been its very efficient operating economics. Thanks to the introduction of numerous product improvements, it still remains the most cost-efficient and capable aircraft in its class and the family is achieving average dispatch reliability above 99 percent.

Airbus secures firm commitment for 100 A320neos from China

Airbus China says it has secured a firm commitment for at least 100 A320neos from Chinese customers, and that discussions for several hundreds more of the re-engined narrowbody are ongoing.

In an interview with journalists at Airbus China's office in Beijing, its president Eric Chen disclosed that the commitment for the 100 Neos comes from flag carrier Air China and state-owned leasing company ICBC Leasing, and are subjected to approvals from the local government.

If approved, this would be one of China's first Neo orders. Publicly, the airframer has so far only announced an order from ICBC Leasing for 20 Neos – Chen says a part of this figure is included in the 100 aircraft commitment.

Meanwhile, Air China filed a stock exchange disclosure in May, saying its board has approved an order for 100 A320s, 40 of which will go to subsidiary Shenzhen Airlines. At that time, the Star Alliance carrier did not say whether the order included the re-engined version of the narrowbody. Chen, however, says that 60 of the 100 aircraft on order are Neos.

"Besides this firm commitment for 100 aircraft, we also have an active sales campaign, and several hundreds more Neos are being discussed," says Chen.

He explains that though Chinese carriers only order aircraft based on five-year plans (the current one runs from 2011 to 2015), they are aware that they may not get early slots should they order the Neo later, because of high demand for the type.

"They realise that if they plan in the same way, they may lose the opportunity for slots in years to come. So in this context, there is a lot of anxiety and thus they are discussing with us their needs for Neos," says Chen. "There are many active negotiations ongoing."

There are currently 807 A320 family aircraft being operated by Chinese customers.

Airbus and Japan Airlines sign their first ever order

Japan Airlines (JAL) has signed a purchase agreement for 31 A350 XWBs (18 A350-900s and 13 A350-1000s), plus options for a further 25 aircraft. This is JAL’s first ever order for Airbus aircraft.* It is also the first order Airbus has received from Japan for the A350 XWB, confirming its continuing success with world leading airlines across the globe. JAL and Airbus aim for entry into service from 2019, with the airline’s A350 XWBs gradually replacing its ageing fleet approximately over a six year period.

“We will utilize the A350 XWB to maximum, which offers high level of operational efficiency and product competitiveness, while positively catering to new business opportunities after slots at airports in Tokyo are increased,” said Yoshiharu Ueki, President of Japan Airlines. “In addition to improving profitability with advanced aircraft, we always aim to deliver unparalleled services to customers with the latest cabin and steady expansion of our route network.”

"Japan Airlines is well known as one of the most preferred airlines in the world providing its passengers with an excellent flight experience. We sincerely welcome Japan Airlines as a new Airbus customer and feel honored by this first ever order from Japan for our all-new A350 XWB,” said Fabrice Bregier, President and CEO of Airbus. "It fills us with pride to see a leading Japanese airline start a new chapter with us. This highlights a very bright and flourishing future for both of us, JAL and Airbus.”

In a typical three-class layout the A350-900 comfortably seats more than 300 passengers on routes as long as 8,100 nautical miles (nm). The A350-1000 is the largest member of the A350 XWB Family, seating 350 passengers on even longer missions up to 8,400 nm. All A350 XWB models are equipped with the new Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines.

Over 70 percent of the A350 XWB’s weight-efficient airframe is made from advanced materials combining composites (53 percent), titanium and advanced aluminium alloys. In addition to innovative materials, the A350 XWB brings together the very latest in aerodynamics, design and advanced technologies and provides significant improvement in fuel efficiency compared with competing models.

To date, the A350 XWB MSN1 has completed around 300 flight test hours out of the campaign’s total 2,500 hours which are to be achieved by five flight test A350’s over the next 12 months. Entry into commercial service of the A350-900 is scheduled for the second half of 2014. With this latest commitment, Airbus has recorded more than 750 firm orders for the A350 XWB from 38 customers worldwide.

Order for 100 jets helps Airbus set new record

Airbus set a new net orders record of 1,503 aircraft during 2013, confirming that it exceeded Boeing’s net and gross totals for the year.

The airframer landed gross orders for 1,619 jets including a new order for 100 aircraft from a customer which, for the time being, remains undisclosed.

Airbus delivered 626 aircraft including 108 A330s and 493 single-aisle types, as well as the 25 A380s it had scheduled.

The airframer’s net orders include 299 A330s and A350s and 42 A380s. It has removed five A380s attributed to India’s Kingfisher Airlines from its books.

Gross orders included 876 A320neo-family jets – taking the total demand for the re-engined type to more than 2,600 – but the manufacturer also landed 377 for the current A320 range.

It secured gross orders for 239 A350s and 77 A330s plus the 50 A380s destined for Emirates. The overall figure amounted to more than $240 billion worth of aircraft at catalogue prices.

Airbus chief executive Fabrice Bregier, speaking in Toulouse, says the company achieved an “extremely good” intake for the year.

Its gross figure surpassed by 88 aircraft Boeing’s total of 1,531 while Airbus’s net orders exceeded its US rival’s by 148.

Airbus chief operating officer for customers John Leahy says the figures include a firm order for 100 aircraft from a “large customer”, including paid deposits, but that it has requested its identity to remain confidential.

“We’re well positioned for at least the next five years,” says Leahy, referring to the continuing duopoly with Boeing and the Airbus backlog of 5,559 aircraft.

“I think we’re getting our act together [on deliveries],” he adds. Airbus’s delivery figure for 2013 is its highest on record, although Boeing’s was greater at 648.

Surprenant qu'une aussi grosse commande reste avec le client "inconnu"
le libellé laisse pense que c'est déjà un client Airbus et pas un "new Customer" mais bon :?:

VietJetAir to firm up order for Airbus jets

SINGAPORE, Jan 28 (Reuters) - Low-cost Vietnam airline, VietJetAir, is set to firm up part of a $9 billion order for up to 92 Airbus aircraft and will announce this at the Singapore Airshow in February, sources familiar with the situation said.

In September, VietJetAir and Airbus agreed a provisional order for the mostly A320 planes, but the deal did not show up in the order book of Airbus in its 2013 data.

"They are very close to a deal and this will be one of the big orders at the airshow," said one source.

A firm order is seen as a strong indication of future revenue for airplane manufacturers and triggers a deposit from airlines. Airlines mainly pay for aircraft when they take delivery and usually win significant discounts for large orders.

The latest deal worth $9 billion at list prices, includes firm orders for 62 medium-haul jets as well as options for 30 more. The sources spoke on condition of anonymity as the matter is not public.

VietJetAir company officials could not be reached by Reuters on Tuesday, the start of the new year holidays in the country.

An Airbus spokesman in Singapore said: "We don't comment on discussions that may or may not be taking place with customers or reports of potential announcements."
