En attendant Easyjet fait dans une moindre mesure comme Ryanair
EasyJet has joined rival Ryanair in threatening to drop several Moroccan routes in protest at the Moroccan government's decision to impose new levies on all outbound flights effective April 1, 2014. In a statement to Spain's Aerolatin News, the British LCC "lamented" the introduction of the taxes adding that flights from Paris CDG to Tangiers and Fes would be among the first affected. According to ch-aviation schedule data, both flights have already been cancelled from May 3 and May 4 onwards. easyJet did not, however, make any reference as to the status of its other Moroccan operations which include Agadir, Casablanca Int'l, and Marrakech. "EasyJet regrets the introduction of this tax that will damage the country's economic sector and hurt economic growth. With rates rising, Moroccan destinations will be less attractive in comparison to other European cities," it said. In response to both Ryanair's and easyJet's threats, Morocco's Minister of Tourism, Lahcen Haddad, said there are other airlines willing to serve Morocco noting that the new tax "is a sovereign decision" that will have a positive impact on both tourism and air traffic.
