China Southern, Air China to codeshare on A380 Beijing-Paris route

China Southern Airlines (CZ) and Air China (CA) have agreed to codeshare on the Beijing (PEK) to Paris route using an Airbus A380 from October, according to CA CEO Cai Jianjiang, pending regulatory approval.

An industry insider said both carriers would also consider setting up a future joint venture to share operating expenses and revenues.

CZ, which ordered five Airbus A380s, has taken delivery of three of the type. It is scheduled to introduce the fourth aircraft this month and the fifth one in January (ATW Daily News, Oct. 17, 2011).

CZ operates two A380s on the PEK-Guangzhou (CAN) route and one on the PEK-Hong Kong route (ATW Daily News, Aug. 16). The carrier’s board secretary Xie Bing said in a recent conference call that CZ reported a net loss of CNY100 million ($15.8 million) for operating the A380 on these two domestic routes in the first half, which is why it is now turning to international routes.

In July, the Guangzhou-based carrier announced it will operate the A380 on its CAN-Los Angeles route from Oct.12 to accelerate its international expansion pace (ATW Daily News, July 27).

Air China & China Southern Airlines expected to cooperate on Beijing-Paris route

Air China Ltd, the nation's biggest international carrier, is working on a deal with China Southern Airlines Co Ltd, the country's largest airline by passengers, to jointly operate a Airbus A380 superjumbo on the Beijing-to-Paris route.
Air China President Cai Jianjiang disclosed the plans to The Beijing Times newspaper on Tuesday.

Rao Xinyu, Air China board secretary, told China Daily that Cai discussed the matter during the company's interim report conference.
The cooperation between the two carriers is just beginning, subject to further discussion about details.

Rao said the two airlines will co-operate on the A380 — the world’s largest passenger jet — through code-sharing.

The two carriers also are considering jointly developing the dealership of the route by sharing cost and income, an unnamed source was quoted as saying by The Beijing Times.

However, there are still hurdles ahead in their joint plans, according to Wang Jiangmin, a Beijing-based analyst at China Southern.

Air China is a member of the Star Alliance, but China Southern has joined SkyTeam, bringing about coordination difficulties such as which terminal to choose for takeoff and landing, Wang said.

Zhu Qingyu, director of market research department at China Air Transport, said as long as the airlines reach agreements on their respective responsibilities, there won’t be any problems.

10 333 pour CZ

Message par UY707 »

China Southern Airlines has agreed to acquire 10 Airbus A330-300s, in a sign that the rethink on the European emission-trading system has helped resolve a dispute over long-haul jet orders.

The Chinese carrier states that it has entered a purchase agreement with the airframer covering the jets. No engine selection has been disclosed.

China Southern values the agreement at nearly $1.9 billion based on the catalogue price, but says the aggregate actual consideration is lower because of "certain price concessions".

la rumeur persistante du moment
China Southern pourrait quitter SkyTeam pour rejoindre One world
- One world avec China Southern
